and taking part in the Liturgy

Science Fair is Wednesday

Please visit the 2nd floor & look at all of the projects

Especially the 3rd grade board on fossils!

What We Are Learning This Week

Action and Being Verbs in Lang. Arts/ Cause & Effect in Reading/ times 2, square roots, fractions, estimation in Math/ Explorers Christopher Columbus & Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in Soc. Studies, and Fossils in Science

Homework:

Monday- Math, lesson 73; Reading wk. bk. finish The Gardner’s  section

Tuesday- Math, lesson 74; Spelling- study for Wednesday’s quiz and make sure book pages are finished; Social Studies, Unit Resources pgs. 32 & 33; Reading, reread The Gardner’s  and look over study guide in preperation for Wednesday’s test.

Wednesday- Study for Thursday morning’s Religion test.

Thursday- Math 3, study times 2 facts; Science Day 10-2:50pm.

Friday- No Homework

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome back to school on Jan. 3rd

Don’t forget to bring your completed Advent book

What’s Happening This Week

School Mass on Wednesday. Girls don’t forget to wear your jumpers

We have ended the 1st quarter elective classes. New classess will resume in 3 weeks.

No tests this week.

Homework:

Monday- Math, lesson 64; Reading, practice book pages 93 & 98; If you haven’t brought your Advent book please finish & return by the end of the week.

Tuesday- Math, lesson 65

Wednesday-

Thursday- Math, lesson 65; Spelling, pg. 38; Social Studies, some students needed to finish classwork

Homework will be updated on a daily basis so be sure to check back. All homework should be written in each child’s agenda & signed by parent or tutor.

The quarter ends in 3 weeks. Please check gradelink to see if your child is missing assignments.

We will be having a holiday celebration in the classroom after Mass on Friday. Remember, to interact with the students you need to have attended the Virtus training.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM INFORMATION

Dec. 14th at 6:00 pm at the Church

Parking is available on the street or in the structure across from the Church. There is another event taking place at the Parish Center that evening, so no parking in the Church lot. Thank you for understanding.

Third Grade News

Scholastic Book Fair is being held at the Parish Center

Friday 12:30-3:30, Saturday 5-7 pm & Sunday 8 am- 5 pm

Third Grade is in charge of this months Service Project. We will be collecting toys for the Church Toy Drive. Each child should bring 1 unwrapped toy and we will have a wrapping party in the class.

Tests for the week: Tues. quiz on the Navajo, Friday. spelling and reading tests.

Homework for the week: Tues, Math, lesson 53; Soc.Studies, study for quiz. Wed. Math, lesson 54; finish opinion paragraph on homework. Thurs. Math, lesson 55: Study for Spelling and Reading.

What’s Happening

Many thanks to all of the parents who attended Parent Conferences yesterday! It was great to talk to all of you about the wonderful progress your children are making in Third Grade.

This week we are finishing our reading selection, “A Day’s Work.” The students will be assessed on their knowledge of comprehension and vocabulary on Friday. They will also have a spelling test this Friday. We will be working on forming plural nouns and using them correctly through this week and into next week. Be sure to ask your child what they’ve learned about the Navajo Indians. The Navajo blankets that the students designed will be displayed in the classroom.

Science: How organisms compete in their environment for survival

Social Studies: Who are the Navajo and how did nature influence  the way they lived.

Language Arts: Using context clues to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words; Understand character; Visualize to understand character; Distinguish between singular and plural nouns

Tuesday: Science, finish pond ecosystem drawing
